Straight edge

This is something that really bugs me. Not the fact that these people choose not to drink/smoke/take drugs but for the sheer fact that they feel the need to label themselves. To me, this just makes it okay to push them into the typical straight edge stereotype of angry, skinny, hardcore guys that would gladly spit int he face of anyone seen with a drink or cigarette in their hand. I’m not saying that everyone that labels themselves as straight edge is like this but being realistic, this is the stereotype. I do admire people that chose to live their lives without drugs, alcohol and cigarettes etc. I understand why they chose this way of life too. I just enjoy a good drink every once in a while too much to give it up and say that I am ‘edge’. Another thing that really annoys me is the amount of 14 year old kids that are ‘edge’ despite the fact that they are not even legally allowed to drink and have never been in that situation where peer pressure could be enough to make them ‘break edge’ by the age of 16. Also the fact that its pushed down the throats of non straight edge people, the fact that its basically written all over their bodies with their clothing and black x’s on their hands written with a sharpie. It really just reminds me of preachy religious people that get angry and condemn people that do not follow their way of life. Again I have no problem with people that chose to live their life substance free, it’s the people that label themselves and are so quick to judge others about it.
